I just purchased a M&P shield and I'm trying to find a good quality holster. I live in a small area so there isn't any way I can go touch and feel the holsters. I am on the heavy side (Big Side) and want something that is easy to conceal & comfortable.

I like the sound of the Remora holsters but is it too good to be true on how they actually work? I know they also make several styles.

The N82 Tactical has great reviews but If I get one I would think I would want the Pro series but is the plastic part uncomfortable.

All info and opinions would be appreciated. Pictures are welcome.

While I'm asking questions I am also looking for a grip. I have been looking at the Talon grips, Sand paper pistol grip company that makes rubber ones, and Foxxx grips. Pictures are welcome.

Thanks

Tried Remoras for a number of my pistols (Including the Shield) and they just don't work for me at all. They constantly slip and move around. Doesn't matter what pants or belts I wear. They're not terribly expensive, so they're worth a try. You may have better luck than I.

Otherwise, I lean towards other brands like High Noon, PJ Holsters and FoxX.

Never tried Remora, but while comfortable, I find the N82 Pro creates too much bulk and quit using it. Hidden Hybrid Holster works much better for me when I carry IWB.

I have a bunch of Remoras. I use them quite often (even for a FS M&P 9 and similar guns). I like them all except their ankle rig.

Never tried the N82 so I can't compare, but as stated above the Remoras are fairly cheap and worth a try-out IMHO.

I have the Remora for the Shield and a Fn fiveseven. I carry both on a regular basis. For the most part they stay put. Mine shift every so often. Which I'm fine with, for the the amount of time I carry during the day. Going from a full size gun to the Shield in the Remora, I forget I'm carrying. It just disappears.

Bought two Remoras, one standard IWB for a Commander and a second Reinforced Top for a Glock 19....both work great. Was so pleased I bought two more, one for a 3" 60-10 and the other for a 4" N-frame. The one for the 60-10 works great...very comfortable. They did however mess up the order on the N-frame and sent a 2.5" instead of a 4". I should have the correct one next week.

Several of my friend have tried mine and have purchased them...everyone has been pleased.

Remora did not work for me at all. It kept slipping down to the point I couldn't get a grip on the handle. My wife now uses it as a pistol sheath in her nightstand drawer.

I don't have a lot of experience with IWB holsters, but I do have two Remoras, and like them. As stated, they are inexpensive enough that you can try one without breaking the bank. I recently carried my Glock 23 on a hike, amd hardly knew it was there. It didn't slip.

Ok, I feel qualified to answer since I have and use both.. As a matter of fact I just picked another N82 Pro holster yesterday at the big NRA show in Nashville.

Remora, good for when you are wearing pants that don't have belt loops. I have gotten a bad remora, they had a bad batch of fabric, but they made good on the issue and replaced it. I just went on a nature hike for an hour and a half Thursday wearing one with my Sig 938 and it it handled thr hike like a champ!

N82 Pro, my favorite IWB holster. Very comfy, nothing pokes you (like a lot of hybrid holsters do) it is sweat proof and it had great retention. I use both depending on what I am wearing. I wore the remora yesterday walking around the NRA convention. Today I will wear jeans and my new N82 with the sig. The other N82 I have is for the 9c.

If you can I recommend getting both, there will be situations were the N82 won't work as well as the Remora and visa versa.

I can't speak for remora but i love the n82. I carry a Sig P239 everyday in a n82 professional. I've had it for a little over a year. It has held up great and is very comfortable.

I have both as well, an N82 for my Glock19 or Kahr CW45 (mine's the elastic one) and several Remoras. Frankly, I think the no clip Remora makes for a great pocket holster, but wife uses hers IWB and likes it.

I use a Remora for carrying my 640 Pro. It works just fine for me and doesn't move at all. I just had to get comfortable with the fact there were no clips holding it since I kept feeling like it would fall out of my pants. I was at a gun show today and looked at the N82 but I also wondered about the plastic part.

Never tried a Remora, but it seems like it would be less than secure. No IWB is totally comfortable, but they are very secure. I am always in and out of cars or chairs so I prefer only one belt clip. It is easier to adjust for comfort. I carry a 40c in a N82 Pro. In the summer, under a t shirt, against the skin, it is the best. It took some getting used to as I am not as thin as I used to be, but I love it. I would love to have a variety of other holsters for different situations but cost is an issue. Hope this helps.

Both work well. N82 is by far my favorite IWB holster when I choose to wear IWB. I have a few Remoras but never got to the level of comfort with them to use them for daily carry for any length of time. Around the hood walking the dog or a quick trip to the store they were great and worked fairly well.

N82 with the single clip is my preference, quick on and off and its not too bulky and I too am a bigger guy - plenty comfortable and as I am sure others have stated IWB in general is more uncomfortable for some folks, like me since I have a little bit of a beer gut but I forget the n82 is on at times and I personally like the "twist feature" to get the gun out. It makes me feel a little better knowing its secure. Some hate that..

Pretty sure they both will give you your money back if you did not like either for any reason and unlike many other holsters where you have to wait for weeks to get them, they ship quicker.

An other option is Aliengear IWB, it is priced very reasonable and been using it for a while and I like it so far also very comfortable. I'm on the chunky side and this holster works great for me as it was a part that protects the gun from direct contact with your body without adding bulk, I would buy a second if needed.
