Living in Florida I'm always fighting air cancer. I have two Stack-On Cordless Dehumidifiers in the safe but aren't always on top of when they need to be recharged.
Bought a Remote Weather Station that has both an indoor monitor and a wireless 'outdoor' monitor (Ambient Weather Wireless Internet Remote Monitoring Weather Station, $39 on Amazon). Put the outdoor monitor inside the safe. Turns out 915 MHz is pretty sneaky and gets out without much trouble. It links through my home WiFi and I configured it to report Temp/Humidity every 5 minutes to a web database (ambientweather.net, but there are at least 2 others).
A simple rule definition at their web site and wham-bam, a humidity alarm. When the humidity inside the safe goes above a value I set (55% now) I get an email reminder to get off my rear and recharge the Stack-Ons. Will monitor for awhile and also add a low-temp alarm to tell me if the Golden Rod stops heating.
I'd like to get to 50% RH but don't think I can get there without either more Stack-Ons or a powered dehumidifier. Because Florida.
