I have been looking for a model 66 for a little while. I saw one in a local gun shop the other day.

It is a 66 no dash, 4" barrel, what seem like the original target stocks. It seems in good mechanical condition but it has some pits and scratches in the finish. I have heard and seen people buffing out the scratches, but how about the pits? How deep of a pit can be removed without causing damage to the gun?

The price on the gun is a little high, and I was told it has been sitting in the shop for some time. I figured the pits could give me a little room to work with. But I want to know it the gun can be saved or not.

Any advice would be great, thanks in advance,
Ryan

:)Ryan I think you can find a M66 in good condition at a good price if you look around. Just take your time!!! If you can talk them down to a good price just realize that the rust pits are there to stay. Also look under the grips for rust. The light scratches can be buffed out. Go to this link and scroll down to a post on polishing SS. There is also a lot of other good information to read. Don
