Removing grips when cleaning?

I take them off because I clean them ultrasonically. They will get a little bit looser the first time or two, but then it stops - assuming you remove them correctly. I loosen the grip screw and then tap the head of the screw to dislodge the opposite grip. If you claw, twist, and pry at them I imagine they will continue to loosen up and become scarred.

I use beemerphile's removal method. I may not do it every time but frequently. I have found too many N-frames with the outline of the target grip on the side and sideplate of the frame to not clean this area. Also this allows me to clean under the hammer without removing the sideplate. I also use Ren. wax on the stocks inside and out as well as this area of the frame.
