Removing presentation case flocking...

I came across several wooden presentation cases, most of them with molded plastic inserts...Some of these inserts were absolutely smooth and free of old flocking, and I was able to refinish them with new flocking...Others have the original flocking, but worn in places and in poor condition...

My question is what can I use to remove the remaining old flocking and its adhesive before I reflock?...I'm hoping there is a solvent to dissolve the adhesive that will not harm the molded plastic...Thanks......Ben
