I have an early K22 Outdoorsman that has some endshake that needs to be fixed. How does one remove the extractor rod end so that the cylinder can be removed from the yoke?

Depending on the year made threads on your extractor rod may be right or left handed.

Sounds like you may have one of the LERKs. I have not removed one from the cylinder, but you can use a large drill press chuck to tighten down on the rod past the knob. Just make sure the knob is deep in the chuck past the chuck's moving jaws and tighten it a lot before turning. Should be the opposite threads from the current ones if it has a LERK.

All K22 Outdoorsman have right hand threads. The knob (barrel style) on the end of the extractor rod is one piece with the rod and not removal and has not been since 1915 after the .44 hand ejector, the triple lock was discontinued.

That's what I was wondering, if it was removable. I thought maybe it was a screwed on piece.

I have the proper tool now to remove the extractor rod from the cylinder side.

Thanks for everyone's replies.
