I recently bought a S&W 65-3, 1983/4 vintage from what I can tell. The gun is in descent shape, not shot a whole lot, just a few blemishes & small scratches. The 3 side plate screws have been buggered up. They are still workable, one was loose so I removed all 3 then tightened them up. They are usuable but detract from the looks of the revolver. How hard would it be to get the 3 replacement screws of the correct size? Does anyone have them? go to S&W? or a parts supplier? Thanks for any info.

I would order them straight from S&W. Go to their webpage, then go to support, then to revolver parts lists to find the part number and price. Call them and order what you need.
Midway or Brownells will have them but will probably take longer.

That sounds like a plan. I'm on the road now but when I get all my info & SN: together I will try them. At least I should get the correct screws. It's a small issue but I'd like to replace them.

I have a 64 with buggered screws when I got it. I called S&W and was able to replace all three sideplate screws for only a few dollars. They could not get me a new mainspring tension screw however, as it was outdated and no longer available. The screw that holds the crame needed some fitting with a file as well.

Could someone tell me the proper screw driver size or sizes to remove s&w side plates ? 1/8 x .023 ?

I called S&W & they say the screws are on the way, good to deal with.

S&W has sent me out a mess of small parts free of charge. Too bad Glock couldn't learn something from S&W CS Dept.

Are you looking at Forster's screwdrivers? I use them, mostly a #2 and a #16 for S&W's. #2 for the late style yoke sideplate screw, #16 for the other two. The 1/8 x .023 is too small.
