Have owned a number of 41's and now have three. The oldest is a 4 digit serial number: 364x

Wanting to know any information as to age etc. It obviously has chamber indicater. It came to me with a 7 inch barrel with comp and two original mags.

Thanks for any comments.

Hello Fred,
Your barrel with the muzzle brake is actually 7 3/8" long. Thats about all I can add. Forum members civil1977, TOM BECKWITH, will hopefully be along shortly to date your pistol and add some other interesting information.

VERY likely 1957 - first year. Suggest it is worth lettering with Jinks. Would like to see pictures of the mags - especially backs - and the pistol. 7 3/8" bbl was only std bbl at that time.

model 41

Hi Fred, congrats on the find. Please e-mail me, I have a great article on the model 41-46, that will answer many of your questions, and also give you some history of the changes made along the years. [email protected] All Requests Welcome.

Fred,

As Tom alluded to the very early magazines had a two peice body where the back was staked in place to form the body. The "chamber indicator" you refer to is actually a Cocking Indicator.....it only indicates whether or not the gun is cocked, not whether or not there is a round in the chamber. Your early Model 41 should have the model designation and serial number on the left side. After a few years of production the model designation was moved to the right side. Also these early guns didn't have the relief cuts on either side of the frame behind the trigger. Compare to your later guns and you'll see the difference.
