Hi Everyone:

I just got the M&P compact 9mm (the version without the thumb safety).

I will be new to Concealed Carry.

Q re holsters for this weapon: I am considering Comp Tac "Minotaur Gladiator" (Kydex-Leather hybrid), DeSantis speed scabbard or thumb-break scabbard, and DeSantis Viper paddle. If anyone has one of these for their weapon, I would appreciate any feedback or recommendations. Also, how necessary is a thumb break? Will a holster without a thumb break hold the weapon securely enough?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations- I definately want OWB holster.

For comfort and concealability, I would recommend a quality pancake style holster from one of many makers. It should hold your pistol securely without a thumbbreak. They are molded to the gun, and the gun just sort of clicks into place when inserted into the holster. You should be able to turn the holster upside down with the gun in place, shake it vigorously, and the gun should not become disloged. Hope this helps.

I agree with gregintenn's recommendation, mostly because that is what I carry my 40c in, which is a pancake (2 piece) kydex rig. Mine was custom made by Personal Security Systems.

Here is my product evaluation for the one I got.

What is noteworthy about this particular holster is:
- it can be easily interchanged between IWB and OWB modes.
- it does not require any additional retention device due to its form fitting ability to securely retain/hold onto the pistol.

If you have any questions after reviewing my evaluation, feel free to send me a private message or respond to this one.

p.s. I saw your inquiry on the other S&W forum, but I'm only responding to this one.
