Resurrection sky....

Arizona's "monsoon season" often makes for dramatic skies, with all the moisture-laden clouds pouring in. I took this yesterday afternoon; walked out our front door and this was the truly awesome scene that greeted me. I ran for my camera, and caught a truly beautiful sky. Photographers call this a "resurrection sky" for obvious reasons. It's like God is calling, and He is saying "...are you listening?" At any rate, I thought I'd share it with you.

Nice shot John. I am experiencing a little Arizona monsoon right now in Flagstaff with a little "resurrection sky" action too.

I do believe this was my first trip through the desert and the Greater Phoenix area where I didn't need to blast the AC. The thin overcast and relatively cool temps made for a nice drive. Really, it was only 89-90 degrees and I expected the locals to be sporting parkas!

Nice photo. This phenomenon is also called "Crepuscular rays" or "Jacob's Ladder". Because Arizona clouds are often widely spaced, cloud formations can be especially neat to look at.

Sure. They get eight or nine inches of rain a year in Phoenix. You ought to be there on the day that they get it.
