Well at an estate sale I found this... Yep for $75... no tax!

Old SCHRADE-WALDEN 'Deer Slayer'. Nice older sheath to. Made in about 1973. MADE IN USA!!!

So... I did my work!

Polished it all night and put saddle soap on the sheath (as well as that old Hunter 1100 holster that fits the Security Six .357 there. Also did the Bianchi speed strip pouch same way!!!!)

Got that Hunter 1100 for $17 off of Hibid! And it came with two other leather holsters!

Now a few years ago I did my action job on that Six.. it is slick, locks 100%, tight as a drum! Shoots very very well!

The whole point is a quick set I can slap on to hike instead of my fancy gear. And I look retro...

Guess I've been "retro hiking" for years and didn't know it :) .

I've carried this Ruger Speed-Six and the Shrade Little Finger on hikes and woods walking trips for many years.

Don
And that is the way to go!!!

A few bird shot shells, SWCs for critters, and a knife for chores that might crop up. I handload with H110 powder and use 158gr XTP JHPs for max loads and any good hard case SWC loaded with Unique or Bullseye powder for general purpose loads.

And while I do have a Speed Six 2 3/4 bbl, my preference is 4 inchers with adjustable sights (but that is just me... the Speed Six is a real fine choice!)

Well normally I use this rig with the Security Six..

I just felt 'less is more' and the leather rig I just use any belt I'm wearing.. But if I was going on a LOOONNNGGG hike I'd consider using the rig above...

$75 seems like a lot of money for what looks like N 80s era Schrade. I had/have the smaller sharp finger version. Got it at K Mart as a kid.

Excellent work and a very fine looking nostalgic setup! Enjoy it in the woods! (y)

Not really... this one does not even have a sheath.. and shipping/tax is there to.
