I picked up a spare .22lr cylinder assembly for my Model 51 Kit Gun. I had to shorten the center pin and extractor rod on the new cylinder, but it wasn't too difficult to fit and everything works well except the center pin spring is very weak and won't push back the thumb piece. The gun had a 3.5" barrel.

It's the only issue with the gun, when I swap springs everything works as is should, so it looks like I need to replace the one spring.

Are the springs interchangeable with K, L, or N frame guns? Anyone have a suggestion on an alternative source for a spring so I don't have to pay $10 shipping on a $3 part? I might try a spring from an ink pen if I can find one strong enough.

Thanks

No, they are not. All J frame internals are specific to the J Frame.

Call S&W, 800-331-0852, they do not charge shipping for parts, at least I have never been charged!
