Hello All,

I have a revolver I would like help identifying.

Its a 4" barreled, 5 screw hand ejector in .38 spl. with fixed sights. I believe the nickel plating was done after market. It also appears to be missing the lanyard loop and has after-market Pachmayer grips. No model number under the yoke.

Functions perfectly and shoots well.

Any info y'all could provide would be much appreciated.

Pictures attached for reference.

Thanks,

As Jeff wrote, it is a Victory Model. It dates to 1943, and very likely shipped to the Navy. If it does not say U.S. Property on the top strap, and assuming that was not polished out when the revolver was refinished, then it may have shipped through the Defense Supplies Corporation to a stateside defense plant, port facility or law enforcement agency. Only a letter can tell you and, in my opinion, this revolvers is not worth the $100 cost of a letter.

It has been refinished. If you wish, a replacement swivel can be purchased at places like Numrich Gun Parts.

It is just a utility shooter, and it holds no collector interest in its current non-original condition regardless of its origin. Definitely not worthwhile to order a letter.

Those Victories shipped for WWII military service will be stamped on the topstrap with a property stamp, either United States Property, or later, U.S. Property.

Thank you guys for the info. I do not see any stamping on the top strap. I was pretty sure it wasn't worth anything over and above its utility value as a functional revolver. I was just curious.

Truth be told, I am looking to sell it just based on the fact that I'm not really a revolver guy. This is my only one and I got it as part of a trade with another guy.

Based on the above... what would be a fair asking price for this thing?

Thanks again
