Greetings, all:

Anyone here have experience with a revolver chambered for .17 HMR? If so, what do you think of it? Upsides, downsides, overall impression?

Thanks, and Semper Fi.

Had one for a VERY short time. Because it was a Taurus and didn't work well new out of the box.

Had a six inch barrel and was a lot of fun to shoot. But I don't know what I was thinking when I bought it. Who the heck needs a hand gun in 17 HMR? Guess it would depend huh? ;)

Probably because you can find 17 HMR ammo, but not .22.

I have a Taurus Raging Mouse. For a 17HMR gun, it is heavy. It shoots good, but is it heavy. Mine has a 6" barrel which has a tendency to make it a little heavy.

Mine has a 2x scope mounted on it and minute of gopher at 100yds is doable all day long, as long as you can hold the heavy thing steady.

Did I mention it sure does seem to be heavy for a 17HMR gun?

But, all in all, I like the thing, it beats carrying around a rifle when walking the pastures and plinking gophers.

model 647. heavy noisy and good for shooting bumblebees.

I had one made by Taurus. It had a heavy rough trigger which I never bothered to do anything about. I had it in my head it would make a good companion to my Savage varmint rifle in that caliber.
I shot it a few times and in spite of trigger was pretty accurate but decided my S&W model 17s would do as well and traded it off. I don't see myself replacing it either but was fun while it lasted. It is just too expensive to enjoy as a plinker.

Ruger Hunter

As others have said, it's a bit heavy especially w/scope. Ruger SA trigger is acceptable. I shoot offhand short distances, but off rest is necessary out to 50-100 yds. This gun shoots Hornady VE shotgun patterns, but it likes CCI TNT.
