Absent Comrade
Always interested in how things were made, how they work, etc., I am impressed with the the Merwin Hulbert & S&W Triple Lock in their precision & complexity of mfgr at their times.
Merwin Hulbert first model --
S&W Triple Lock aka New Century
Recent experiience has added another to my favorites, the lowly S&W hammerless pocket pistol. It is more complex than either of the above, with its backstrap squeezer safety & precision of a fine watch --
It outranks the others in two more ways, being mfgr-ed longer & more than the other many times over from 1800s to 1930s up toward 300,000 --
In semi autos I think of the Luger & Savage models ----->
