If you had to choose only one Revolver from these which would it be and why ? All are in excellent to like new condition...

Model 10 (no dash) 4"
Model 10-5 3"
Model 64-4 2"
Model 65-1 4"

Revolver would be used for general shooting and as a nightstand weapon.

From your above short list I would opt for the 65, its more versatile being its a .357. Not even going to consider the numbers after the MODEL-.

Personal opinion: I'd walk away with the Mod. 10 no dash 4".
That's just me.
That's assuming that they were laid in front of me and I was allowed to take one for free. Now, if money was involved, that would open up a whole can of worms with respect to which one would present the best value.

The model 65 would be the most practical for a person with one handgun.
4 inch barrel helps shooting .357 chambering allows use of all 38 special , 38 Spcl.+P and 357 magnum ammo...that covers a lot of uses if you don't reload . Getting 38/357 ammo is usually easy .
About perfect for the night stand or on a belt holster .
Stainless steel a plus for ease of maintenance.

Of the guns you are considering, the Model 10 with the three-inch barrel is the most valuable and the most practical, in my opinion. The .38 Special caliber is more than adequate for home/self defense.

I'd go with the Model 10-5 with the 3" barrel. I'm a sucker for blued steel, and 3" K-frames are desirable given their limited production as compared to the standard 4" models. 38spl +P is plenty for home defense, and it won't make you go as deaf when fired in enclosed spaces like 357.

The model 65 being 357 mag. and a stainless revolver makes it the best option. Models 65 or 66 are the hottest sellers too. So if later you decide upon something else you could probably sell it for as much if not more than you paid for it. Any of the listed guns will make a fine gun for the op intended activities.

Of the choices you list I would pick the Model 10, 4" hands down. This is one of my very favorites and put an adapter on it and you are all set. To me the 38SPL is adequate for anything I want form a handgun so I really do not need the added versatility of the 357.

I haven't participated in a thread like this in a long time. I am assuming this would be your only handgun for home defense and plinking at the range as you said, so the 65 for the option of 357. Good luck, be sure to post a photo if you get one of these.

I've owned all of your choices over the years. The 65 is my first choice because it's so versatile. You didn't mention carry concealed. If that's a factor, I'd take the Model 10 3 inch IF it's a round butt. The 65 is more valuable and easier to shoot better and maintain.

For your stated purposes either 4" revolver will do, but I'd choose the 65 because of easier maintenance.

While all the revolvers listed are excellent choices and any would serve you well, the Model 10 with the 3” barrel stands out. With good self defense loads it will do very nicely on night stand duty. The three inch barrel is long enough to shoot well at the range and short enough to used as a concealed carry piece. The round butt grip frame allows for round butt grips or round to square butt conversion grips. Good luck and whatever choice you make will be the correct one.

There isn't a lot of variation between your choices, so any would do just as well as another. I will say that the 2" or 3" are personal favorites. Is there any reason for such a narrow choice? Not criticizing at all, just that it would help narrow this down better.

Model 10 4 inch. Good sight radius, can be easily concealed and light enough to walk around with all day. Action on the old Model 10s are unbelievable compared to today's guns. Mine has the smoothest of all my Smiths.
