Recently put on scope on my 15-22 all be it cheap one from Wally world a Center Point 4-9x32mm.

Zeroed it in last weekend using CCI Stingers, put some serious range time in today using Federal 550 bulk my fist shot was way off as was my second and third, would this be caused by the ammo or the scope? which had not been bumped around.

A fellow club member watching said you need to zero to your ammo because all ammo is not created the same which left me like WHAT?????? Any takers on explaining this

He's correct, but "way off" doesn't give us any clue if you 're talking fractions of an inch or feet! :)

I've not found any significant differences out to 50 yards from several brands of .22LR but I'm limited to a single day and maybe 500 rounds. A major difference in muzzle velocity and/or bullet weight will strike differently.

If you're dismounting the scope between zeroing sessions it could easily be the mount. I doubt this is a M1913 spec mount and round Weaver mount pins often don't retain zero on the square rail slots.

Sticking with one brand of ammo is always recommended but I've not yet found one that's "way off."

Springfield, I'm on my second centerpoint scope. I have it mounted on a Savage .17hmr. I took the first scope out to the range 3 or 4 trips. I went out for trip five and zero was gone. I played for a while with the scope and nothing. I retured the scope to wally world for the same model so far so good. I have the 4x16 with A/O. I would also zero with the brand and grain you plan on shooting the most or prefer to hunt with.

If you ever find two different loads that hit to EXACTLY the same point of aim, you might want to consider the immediate purchase of a lottery ticket. The difference in POI will not always be huge, but it can be. For each of my .22s, when I find a load that is very accurate I will return to the store where I bought it and buy as much of that lot of ammo as they have or I can afford, and usually once that supply is shot up and no more of that lot can be found, I'm back to looking for and re-zeroing a new load.

Range report for today first 3 shots once again off and what i meant by way off in first post was 3ins high and 2 ins left, today was 6 low and 4 left so like Walther&Smith i too will be returning to wally world and trying my luck with something else
