RHKP marked model 10

Saw one of these today, very high condition but no box. Model 10-8, 4" tapered barrel, lanyard swivel (I guess they all were such?) Asking price was $799. Fair price? I knew about these but hadn't actually encountered one till today.

These were later unpinned barrel model 10-7s and 10-9s. The model 10-8 had the bull barrel.

The asking price seems high to me.

I have an as new made 1982 or later (non-pinned barrel) and paid $599.00 for it about 2 years back. In CA, where they're kind of hard to find.

That RIA RHKPwith a hammer price of +$800.00 probably cost $1k when all was said and done.

I'd guess the one we saw today could have been had for $800 OTD, maybe even a little less.

I have seen plenty of these sell recently for a lot less than $800 for sure. $500 or a bit less is where it should be price wise. I will admit to sometimes being quite a bit behind the times when it comes to pricing. About a year ago I started a thread here asking if a standard 4” model ten was really a $400 gun now, and got a resounding yes.
Wasn’t too long ago ( it seems but is !) that I remember model 10’s being all over the place for $200 and less, but those days are gone never to return, and I also have to remind myself my income has more than doubled since purchasing that last sub $200 model ten as well

Yeah, as Nimrod44 and I were saying just today (at a local gunshow), we are just old enough to remember what things "used to cost". Powder at $60+ a pound today. Stuff we bought in the 70s/80s for $6 - $8 a pound. Problem is, I don't think my income has gone up ten-fold in the intervening years.

I had one that I recently sold that looked to be unfired when I got it.The price seems about right to me. I think that is what I sold mine for.

High for a shooter model 10, you are paying a steep premium for the HKRP markings. We value that, but I wonder what will the market for that be in 10 years? As always your money - your rules.

The Hong Kongs have always been high. $799 is a bit stiff, but honestly not surprising.

My RHKP Mod 10 was definitely a working officers weapon.
It didn’t ride a desk drawer in its career.
Lots of character. Stocks are almost black, but it locks up tight.

I paid $400 IIRC.
I missed a RHKP Colt for $200. IDK what model.
