Any use these? I’m thinking about buying some for use in a 25-7, 25-13 MG, and Ruger SBH. They are 12-15Bn. I think I could drive these from mild to Ruger only territory. Please let me know your experience with this product if you have used it.

.45 LC 270 gr. SWC-FB Keith per 400

Probably the Scovill/RCBS bullet . Keith never designed a 270 grain bullet for .45 Colt . If so , it is a good bullet . I got the mold and use the same powder charge with it as I use for the 255 grain loads . I have never used it with max loads so all I can tell you is start low and stop when it don't feel safe anymore . It does well in my Colt and EMF Hartford Premier guns , hits hard and groups well . Might do a search on .45 Colt loads by Dave Scovill .

Appreciate it Eddie. I only shoot light loads in the Smiths but plan to push harder with the SBH.

I love Dave Scovill's writing. I have his Colt SAA book and I take his loads as max (and a little more) for the Colt SAA. For the Rimrock 270 gn bullet he has a number of loads, 12.1 gns of Blue Dot @955 FPS, HS-6 11.0 gns for 921 FPS. I'd take these as starting loads in the Ruger BH.

I have a mould for that bullet as well as a 270 full wadcutter in the 45. I load the SWC in my 6.5” Blackhawk over a dose of 2400 or 296 for hunting deer. Over the years, it has accounted for several deer. Regardless of velocity, it is a thumper.

Hi
I have used the rim rock bullet for a couple of different 45 colts, excellent accuracy I just bought 500 more.

I have that mold and it can go as high as 280+ grs with softer lead alloys. I have used it quite a lot in my Freedom Arms M-83 in .45 Colt cases.

Follow Pearce's recommendations and You should be fine.

I also have the rcbs mold, very accurate bullet running 1000fps. I had one cav hp with diff pins. I can do 250gr lhp that expands down to 800fps or a 270gr cup point that holds together at 1000fps.

Yes it is a great bullet , when properly sized for the particular gun it's being used in . Don't just assume that .452 is correct .

I too use that bullet in my colt saa’s and Uberti. It’s a great bullet and accurate . I’m going to try it in my model 25. I’m sure it’ll shoot fine. Like someone else said it hits hard.

H&G #501 is the true Keith design .45 SWC with a nominal weight of 260 grains as opposed to the 270 grains for the RCBS knockoff. To me, the Rim Rock bullet's ogive looks different from either the RCBS or Hensley & Gibbs bullet but pictures can be deceiving. Also, the weight difference may due in parts to a round grease groove as opposed to the Keith Design's square one which would hold more lubricant and reduce the amount of alloy in the slug. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter if the bullet shoots well for you but it should not be advertised as a true Keith type bullet.

Bruce is correct . I have the HG 501 and the RCBS 270 . The RCBS is NOT a Keith design . I believe Dave Scoville designed the RCBS 270 bullet , if memory serves me correct . I bought my HG 501 from a friend that had bought out an estate . It is a 4 cavity and came with handles , $100 . I prefer the HG 501.
