I heard his name a lot during my brief dabble in the music business, but I have to admit I've heard very few of his recordings. John Mayall's Bluebreakers was the outfit that launched Eric Clapton, and Mayall has been listed as an influence by many famous rock musicians.

He passed today, aged 90.

90 years old & in that business is a pretty good run. I'm sure the Who's Who list is quite a long one that he forged.
(Heck, 90 years old for the avg. Joe is a pretty long run.)
I really hadn't heard his name in quite a while. He definitely left his mark in the blues scene. Was he another product of Robert Johnson's?
"Got to pay your dues if you wanna sing the blues..." George H.

I was very happy when I figured out how to play Room to Move but never could handle the Chicka- Chicka part. I listened to a lot of British blues back then.
According to a number of players John Mayall sought to teach and develop young musicians while making a living himself. Admirable to say the least.
RIP, John.
Regards,
