Just learned that Lemmy, bassist with Motorhead, passed today. Whenever I see the Ace of Spades in a casino, I'll be thinking of him. He was the only guy I saw break a bass string live in stage.

Wow, I didn't know this. I really have no love for Lemmy, but he is an icon in the world of bass players. He wasn't a great bass player, but he was a good performer.

He got his start in the band because their regular bassist didn't show up to a gig one night. They handed him a bass and said, "This is an E." Suddenly he was a bassist. Amazing start to a really weird career.

I also play a Rickenbacker. He will be missed.

This will now become a ridiculously expensive instrument:

Sad to hear this...big fan of Motorhead. Saw them a couple of times in the 80's and 90's. Lemmy was a hardcore rocker. I had read an article a couple of weeks ago on Lemmy where he was complaining about everyone was asking him when he was going to die...guess he did not know how close the end was.

From one of my favorites songs...Lost Women Blues

I've got to shut the door behind me
Go out and buy some highway shoes

RIP Lemmy

Motörhead was my introduction to seriously hard rock
Still dig them
Sorry to see you go mr kilmister...

Always a bummer to hear news like this. At first didn't know if it was true or not. but he had a good run. Thankful I got to see him the last time he came through. RIP Lemmy and thank you for the great jams!

Another great that I never saw live. I'm not a huge fan, but have much respect for Lemmy, and the metal icon that he was.

He was one of the last TRUE ROCKSTARS...... He was a roadie for Hendrix. How can you compete with that? He'll be missed for sure.
