He passed away this morning from complications related to pneumonia. He has meant so much to so many people and will be sorely missed.

I quite liked his appearances. There are many on YouTube, discussing a wide variety of guns and showing live firing.

Sorry to hear of his passing. He was quite a man, and a great spokesman for gun owners, I loved his movies, and who could forget some of his Glock commercials?

I met him at NRA conventions and big gunshows.
He always had a cup of coffee with him and a moment to talk to you and time to get a pic with the "Gunny".

For the film "Full Metal Jacket", Kubrick had initially hired another actor to play the part of DI Hartman. However, R. Lee Ermey, who had been hired as a consultant for the Marine Corps boot camp portion of the film, performed a demonstration on videotape in which he yelled obscene insults and abuse for 15 minutes without stopping, repeating himself or even flinching - despite being continuously pelted with tennis balls and oranges. Stanley Kubrick was so impressed that he cast Ermey as DI Hartman.
This hurts. I thought Gunny would live forever. I cherish the challenge coin he gave me, and the advice and encouragement he gave my grandson prior to enlisting. He was one of the good ones.
