Got my FDE MOE in Thursday. Picked up a FDE RVG at the gun show today for $21+$8 admission so that was a wash. No one had any 15-22 mags, no 22lr ammo. Almost everything was overpriced. What a let down.Stopped at the fabric store and picked up a pack of pearl gray rit powder dye. Removed all the magpul parts from the rifle, took the mounting screws and nut out, didn't disassemble mbus's, took the butt pad off the stock. Broke the mag down. On the stove was a big stainless pot with 5 quarts filtered water and the whole package of dye heated just below boil, a bucket of hot water and another bucket with warm water. All parts were washed with soap and water, rinsed and loosely strung up with some twine. All the magpul parts dipped into hot dye for 30 seconds then to hot bucket, warm bucket then cleaned in sink. Turned a nice charcoal gray but not black. Small mag parts, floor plate and load assist button turned charcoal gray. The orange follower just turned a darker orangish red. Mag body and rail covers turned a nice medium gray, wouldn't get any darker with longer soak, Left them in there for a good 3 minutes and no change. This is the results.Cheap red dot on there till my Sparc comes in the mail. Palmetto state armory had them on sale for less than $150 so I went with that. Also ordered a RSA and the NDZ speed bolt release. Need to order a few more mags, the store I had it shipped to wants $29 for a black 25 rounder. Not paying that.
