Funny, the dealer told me a year ago he was looking for this other gun. Who would have ever believed it would happen like this ..I hope Mike ends up with both of them.
mchom, what a gun you have! 4 1/2" barrel is pretty rare, nickel is pretty rare with LEO provenance to boot.

I sense a quick trip to Tuttles in my near future......it's one of the few places around any more that are old school gun shops.

It's been 25-30 years since I've been to Tuttles.....
Didn't know they were still open for business, most of the old time stores in the Puget Sound area have closed over the years....
The trip there is about an hour to an hour & a half from where I'm at these days....
Maybe it's time to take a road trip... (not to buy a Reg Mag mind you)

They are definitely in business. Bought an Ultra Compact Kimber there a year or so ago, smoking deal too. At the time he had 8 or so 29-2's, some nickel and all 6 1/2" available. They're probably all gone now....it's always fun to go there though!

The Nickel RMs are scarce. I like the estimate given above as I had thought the number to be about 500, or about 10% of production. The S&W RM database says only 97 with 4-1/2" barrels were produced.
Mine was shipped to Lakeland Florida of 12/10/37. Five Nickeled revolvers in a shipment of 8. It was issued to a motorcycle officer who later became the Chief of the Department and then United States Marshal for the Southern District of Florida.
He is pictured in a 1940 picture wearing the magnum sporting the pearl grips. I have a pictorial history of the man plus have talked to people the knew him.
Feel lucky to have it.

The unusual barrel lengths interest me. Always wonder why people ordered them some random length, especially the 1/4 inch increments. I suppose if they let you order it any way you want, some people just want something a little different. Don't know if 4.5" falls in this category, but made me have the thought nonetheless.
