N.E. Florida to Roanoke, Va. is a LOOONg drive so broke it up to 2 days. Stopped in Bass Pro in Savannah, Palmetto State and Sportsman Warehouse in Columbia and Nichols just S. of Rock Hill, S.C.. All had Plenty of 5.56 /223 and 9 mm at " reasonable" prices considering the current " situation" Stopped in a few other small places I knew about( some were gone) and High prices on most ammo. Firearms prices depended on what it was. Revolvers seemed ok as well as some semi auto pistols. Forget AR anything. Now for the puzzle, who can ID where the 2 pics were taken? BTW, one does Not Want to drive this way if cloudy, snow or heavy rain, many folks have been killed in crashes. Investigated few tragic crashes there years ago.

What roads did you drive on? I go to Pa. from the middle east coast of Florida and have 4 lane interstate all the way. We take a side trip to Roanoke to go to Black Dog Salvage almost every trip. Years ago when a kid my parents used U.S. 21 to U.S. 17 and then U.S. 1. That was a long trip as it was mostly 2 lane roads.

I'd guess you came up I-26 to I-77 in Columbia. If your warning of any part of that route, it's likely the grade assending the Blue Ridge Escarpment at the NC-VA border.

Enjoy your visit with your son.

Windy Gap , I-77 really dangerous if bad weather. I-95 to I-26 to I-77 to I-81. Most likely been this way 100 times in years past, first time in quite a few years, not a lot of changes. Salem has changed a little, Roanoke is Roanoke. Sportsman Warehouse has seen the last of me in any state, Rip off prices.
