In his book "Experiments of a Handgunner" Roper writes of making a set of grips for his 1917 so it would be more comfortable to shoot. Does anyone have pictures of 1917 with Roper style grips?

I have no pictures of a 1917, but I reckon any of those for an N frame will fit just fine. And that said, if you'll scroll down to the very bottom of this thread---to the "Similar Threads" section, you'll find several threads listed; and I strongly suspect you'll find more pictures than you can count! As an aside, while there is certainly a typical checkering style associated with Roper grips, I'll stick my neck out and say there is no such thing as a Roper style of grips. They were made with and without thumbrests, with and without finger grooves (mostly without), etc., etc.. Bottom Line: Roper would furnish pretty much any sort of grip you wanted----as in: "You pays your money, and you takes your pick!"

Ralph Tremaine

AND, speaking of paying your money and taking your pick, Keith Brown will make pretty much any sort of grip you wish; although he seems to specialize in Roper replicas. There are really only two significant differences between the original Ropers and Mr. Bown's replicas: Mr. Brown uses vastly superior wood----and produces a vastly superior product----vis-a-vis fit and finish----especially finish. It is likely there are many sets of Keith Brown's works of art which have been placed upon mantle pieces so folks can sit and stare at them----never mind putting them on a gun!!. Mr. Google can put you in touch with Mr. Brown-----Keith Brown Grips.

Well. I happen to be 2 states away from my guns right now, and sort of really very very drunk (yay sales people events).

That said.

When I get home some time next week I can certainly make a picture of a 1917 with ropers happen. I have the technology. Namely, a camera, ropers, a couple 1917s.

Uh, assuming I'm not still drunk when I get home next week I'll do this thing, and post these pictures that you would like to see.

Here's some ropers on a modified triple lock. Put them there for shooting it, love them on this gun.

Reading through the forums made me remember I need to slap them on my 1917 and get you a shot of that still.
