Round Butt K-Frame Pachmayr Grip Adapter Size?

I am in search of some info…

I have a Model 13 with a 3” barrel that I’ve posted here before. In that thread, someone correctly pointed out that the Pachmayr grip adapter I placed on it to bring it as close to the “FBI” look as I could appeared too large because it splays out at the base of the grip. I agreed.

Since then, I’ve tried many of the #6 Pachmayr adapters I’ve found on eBay; the #6 is said on charts to fit all S&W K-Frames, and all have been a poor fit that doesn’t quite hug the frame.

Is this due to it being a round butt? Does anyone know what size adapter the agencies that used these revolvers had?

Should I try a J-Frame sized adapter?

Looks to me the 6 might be square butt only and I don't see a round butt version. Maybe try modifying a 6.

The #6 is for the square butt, the round butt is just different enough to not work very well. Your best bet might be some plastic surgery on what you have, or just live with a less than perfect fit.

I tried them on my Model 10 and they fit perfectly! That adds up, then.

Wish I knew what kind the FBI used on theirs. I’m sure they fit better from the photos I’ve seen.
