RSR Transitional 6691?

I ran across a very nice condition 6691 today. SN# 49XX. The pistol is in excellent condition, three SS mags but no box/papers/accessories. The pistol is out of state for me (I'm in NY), so it's being shipped up to me. I think I did good...? I'll post some pics once it's in hand.
The dealer made mention of not knowing what sort of box these RSRs would have come in- I told him same as any during that time frame. He was skeptical.

I've got a BNIB 6590 which is also a transitional . Here to tell you they came like any other Smith of that time frame . Haven't looked at it in a while , I looked and it's a box .

I was able to pick up the 6691 yesterday from my local FFL (Baits and Barrels, Riverhead NY- GREAT GUYS!)
The gun is in excellent condition and it dates, as per Roy to May 1991..

From what Roy posted a few years ago on the SWCA Forum, there were only 93 6691s produced and this one's around the 82nd. or so in the batch.

I can't see any possible reason why any one of these shipped in 1987-88 would have ever been shipped in anything except the familiar one-piece blue cardboard flip-top box that has semiautomatic PISTOL PISTOL PISTOL PISTOL" emblazoned all over the top of the box.

Only if it were lost, squirreled away, a dealer sample or some kind of leftover that was shipped years later would it ever have been shipped from S&W in a different box. Always possible, but it would have been an odd example and not the norm.
