Has anyone tried a Houge grip on their SD? I see they have one designed for the M&P, wondering if this would fit.

M&P .40, 9mm and .357SIG, this model is a hybrid and has finger notches built in.

Bought the Hogue and don't like it.

It slides around on the gun.

I didn't want to glue it to the gun.

Didn't fit tight enough so I added some electrical tape so it wouldn't move.
Now after 2 months it has split.

I do like the finger grooves though.

Also wasn't really sure which way it went on.

One end was angled and the other was straight.

Seen pics. with them installed both ways.

I've got the Pachmayr as described above. It stays in place and anchors my hand to the pistol.
Some folks cut up an old bicycle inner tube for a homemade grip. Don't know what size inner tube is the best.

What did you use to lube it when installing?

I used nothing to lube it with.

I've heard the best stuff to use is hairspray.

Put it on fairly fast after spraying the grip.

I'll try it if I get another grip, not sure which one yet.

Houge grip for me...

I've had the Houge grip on my sigma for 10+ years. It's held up quite well. I trimmed just a small 1/8" piece off the bottom to get a real nice smooth fit. It looks good, feels good and does help with recoil.

I've never used soap or anything to help put it on or take it off, witch I've done a few times. It's on there good too. No slipping or sliding around.

Heck I got about 6 rolls of the coban wrap, gonna have to try that.

Thanks, 3

How about finding an old bicycle inner tube and cut it to fit under the grip where it can't be seen.

The guy I got my P11 from did that and the grip doesn't slip. It is a little tougher to get the grip over the inner tube and the tube likes to ride up, but maybe the soap will help.

I bought the Pachmayr grip from eBay, and put it on today. It went on super easy, just a little stretching and pulling. I didn't use anything (soap, Windex, etc) to help put it on...it wasn't needed. This grip feels amazing in my hand...I was a little concerned before I got it, thinking it might be a little too big. I put a Pachmayr grip on my wife's LC9, and it made a world of difference in the way it feels, adding just the right amount of thickness...I didn't want the grip to be too thick on the SD9VE. I was very pleasantly surprised once I got it on...it feels great, soft and just tacky enough to give a secure grip, cushioned, and not at all too big.

I haven't shot the gun with the grip on it yet, so I don't know if it will move with recoil...I was able to twist it fairly easily to line it up once I got it on, so I'll see how it handles in live fire. For now, though, I'm very well pleased!
