Ruger 10/22 fans?

I use the federal bulk in mine all the time with little issue. I used to get the occasional misfeed (very occasional) from time to time with different loads, but not since I replaced the factory extractor with one from Volquartsen. No failures since, with several thousand rounds of various loads through it.

Wayne, try the V. extractor. It is a pretty cheap mod and I think you will like the result

Yes and yes.

The benefit of the kit is a couple. First, the hammer will improve the trigger pull. It lightens it a bit and makes it a very crisp break. You will approve. The bolt release is just a convenience, but one I highly recommend. What it does is eliminate the need to manipulate that little toggle lever between the trigger guard and the mag release. Once installed, if the bolt is locked back, all you have to do is pull it back and let it go forward. As stock, you have to pull the bolt back and manipulate that little lever and then let the bolt go forward. It is just a slight improvement but I think it makes a world of difference.

If you think your body feels old now, Wait till you have another10 to 15 yrs in the field like me, And your customers can't understand why their cars can't be fixed for 20 to 50$ and while they wait.

In all honesty, with what I'm putting my body through I don't know if I'll be in this biz for another 10-15 yrs. My chiro keeps me running right now though, she's a miracle worker!

Folks at RFC tend to beat up on the factory barrels. I have had good luck with mine and venture to say it shoots as well as most any aftermarket barrel would.

A factory sporter barrel can be real good if it's reworked.
From the factory, it's hit or miss. Some are good, some not so hot.
But I've heard if you have a sporter rebuilt, they can be pretty accurate.
There is a guy over there called "nemohunter" I think it is that does
those. They get good reports once he's worked them over.
My 10/22 is a mutt.. I've got a 2000 model stainless carbine, but
my barrel is a NOS blued 18.5 inch sporter barrel. It's ok but nothing
to really write home about. I've been pondering sending it off to Nemo
or one of the others for a overhaul. Either that or consider one of the
bull barrels. The factory "target" models seem to be better out of the box
than most of the sporters.
As far as ammo, mine seems to do pretty well on most all of it so far.
I've used quite a bit of the Federal bulk, and no real problems.
I'll get a few bloopers here n there, but most of those happen when
the rifle starts to get dirty. I've never had a glitch with the good stuff
like mini mags, etc. Mine will start having eject problems with the
cheap stuff when it gets too dirty. Usually after say 300-400 rounds
after starting with a clean rifle.
Mine has the Power Custom trigger parts and pulls at about 2.5-2.75
pounds or so. Also have the extended mag release, and a few other
little goodies here n there like the nylon bolt buffer, etc.
The good thing about 10/22's is you can do nearly anything with them.
But out of the box, it's my opinion that the Marlin model 60 is more
accurate out of the box than the usual 10/22. Or at least that was my
experience. The model 60 I had was a real good shooter. But it's long
gone now. Got stolen years ago.. :(
I bought the present 10/22 off a friend for $100, and all the mods
were already done. Heck of a deal. :)

The brass gets jammed sideways in the action during ejection, or the round will not feed into the chamber, jamming about halfway in.

That's what mine does when it starts getting dirty. Doesn't do it
much when clean. I think part of it may be rounds that are a tad
underpowered, which is not unusual with the bulk ammo.
I've never had that happen with good stuff.

You got a good deal... glad to see that you also helped your friend out by giving him a very fair price. I have built one 10/22 and have another in the works right now. I am trying to do some of the gunsmithing myself (just to see if I can do it).

Here's the first one that I built (the rifle was not complete in this pic, just a 'test fit' after I finished polishing the recevier housing)....

Have fun with yours... they are addicting!

Wow, I really like that stock and color. If you don't mind, who makes it and what's the color called?
