Ruger 380 problem

One of the guys on another site just bought a new Ruger 380 auto and it came with just one magazine...............

He called up Ruger to get a spare...................

They told him.................

Sorry you only get one and we will not ship you a second magazine !!

Seems odd.
 
Their website shows spare magazines for sale priced at $39.95 each. I don't know if they are in presently in stock. Did the person try to order one or did he expect them to send one for free?
 
Mine only came with one magazine...without the finger extension. Mine was before the recall, so I sent it back, they did the work, then sent it back with an extra magazine, finger extensions and a Ruger ball cap, along with a letter apologizing for any inconvenience. Can't complain.

They only come with one magazine. If your friend wants an extra, he'll have to pay for it. Sorry.
 
It seems like the smaller Ruger pistols all come with only one magazine: LCP, LC9, and the new LC380. Their other polymer pistols all come with two magazines, or at least the ones I've bought did: SR9, SR9c, and SR45. I've also had a P95 and a P345; I bought them a few years ago, and don't have them now, but if I remember correctly, they came with two magazines.

I'm not sure what the thinking is, by Ruger...maybe being a subcompact people aren't going to carry a spare magazine? To me, that's backwards. I don't carry a spare magazine for a 15 round capacity pistol, but for a 7 round capacity pistol, I do.

It's not just Ruger...it seems like a lot of subcompact pistols just come with one magazine. If I remember correctly, doesn't the BG380 also come with one magazine?

Maybe, I dunno....personally, I'd rather pay $20 or so more up front for a pistol to get two magazines, than try to hunt for a second magazine for months and not be able to find one (like on a brand new gun to the market.) Sometimes its hard to find magazines for guns that aren't new to the market!
 
I own 2 Ruger LCP's and a few other Ruger products. Their customer service in superb. The gun does come with 0ne magazine, as does all Rugers. It sounds as though he asked, or wanted a free magazine. I just purchased a few assorted magazines from Ruger with a simple phone call. When I received the order, about one week they gave me a 20% discount for being a repeat customer. Incidently, the LCP is a wonderful gun. You hear complaints about the small sights, its not a target gun.

Sorry, but that isn't correct...the SR9, SR9c, and SR45 that I bought all came with two magazines. The LC9 and LCP that I bought only came with one.

The LCR I bought didn't come with ANY magazine... ;)

My apologies, I wasn't aware of any Rugers coming with 2 mags.
I've owned quite a few, all came with one. A shame they didn't give you a mag for the LCR, but even if they did you might have a hard time putting it in the gun.
How do you like the LC9, Ive been considering one.

My SR45 also came from the factory with two magazines.

It does seem to be somewhat random but very likely reflected in the price. If the OEM ships two magazines with a firearm and you only received one then it sounds like the store is popping the 2nd mag out of the box to sell separately.

I don't have mine anymore...I sold it; my wife won't part with hers, though. She has the TALO Gold edition, and she thinks it's "pretty." (Mine was just the plain model.) I like the gun as a carry gun...I don't mind the trigger, since it's not a range gun. Ruger has outstanding customer service, so if any issues come up, they will correct them. The one thing I don't like is that you can't take the firing pin out easily, like you can the striker on a M&P, SD, or Glock, and clean out the channel. I'd rather have a Shield for carry...but if you want to pocket carry, the Shield is too big (at least for me, especially since I prefer the 8 round magazines.)

Some gun shops do that...especially on used guns, when you don't know if the previous owner sold it or traded it in with two mags. I wouldn't buy a new gun if it didn't come with the accessories that are listed from the manufacturer (it's very easy to look them up to see what is supposed to be in the box) unless the shop was giving a discount for what was missing. Sometimes stuff gets misplaced with no nefarious intent.
 
My wife has one (LCP) and really likes it.
There are mags on eBay, btw.
 
None of my three Rugers came with a spare magazine. Of course, two are revolvers. That may have something to do with it...:D

But I think I had to pay for a spare mag for the .22 auto.

My Beretta M-92FS came with two mags, in a police special deal that should have included three magazines. I think the dealer pilfered one, but the gun was on sale for a good price, and it probably balanced out. Maybe the missing mag was misplaced somewhere in the shop or an employee swiped it.

It's always best to ask the manufacturer how many magazines to expect. I think some dealers also try to take out some accesories from binocular boxes and sell them separately.
 
Silly question but did the guy in the OP offer to PAY for a second magazine? Does not sound right that Ruger would turn down business.

I think the gun makers are all in cahoots on this...I've never gotten a spare magazine with any revolver, no matter what brand! :D

I got the impression that he was asking them to send him a second one, free. I can't see Ruger saying they wouldn't SELL him one, unless they were out of stock.
 
I picked my LC380 up a little over a week ago it only came with one mag I ordered two more and a holster. However I had to send it back to Ruger because it did not work correctly the magazine disconnect would not engage with a magazine in. I sent it back last Monday it arrived back today with a new magazine disconnect and functions.

I will test it my self early next week.

One of them round magazines with no spring or follower? :p

I believe it was in "The Outlaw Josey Wales" where Mr. E carried extra cylinders for his pistols to reload them.
