Ruger Bisley

Anybody got one? How do you like it? I've fired a coule of Ruger single actions. I'm not a big fan of the old style "cowboy" grip. I've handled Bisley's before and like the grip much better. Thinking a .44 or .45 Colt might be a nice addition.

I had a Vaquero Bisley for a while. .44 Magnum. For various personal reasons I longer have it, but it unquestionably was far more comfortable in aimed fire than my 4.625" New Model Super Blackhawk. In practical terms, more accurate, also. There was probably a reason why the Bisley was shaped the way it was.

It has been a while, but I think that recovery from recoil was quicker, too. Other than that, it didn't have anything to recommend it.

Bisley grip frames are a real love or hate thing. I like shooting heavy loads with larger grain weight bullets. That is where a Bisley shines...shooting the Ruger Only loads...

But it also performs well on standard plinkin' rounds.

I own two, one in .44 magnum; the other in .45 Colt.

Both are enjoyable to shoot. The Bisley grip frame is really different than the standard Blackhawk, and as GIZAMO wrote, they're love or hate. I love 'em.

I used to have one in .45 Colt, but now only own the Single Six Bisley .22.

I agree that you wither love or hate it.

If it is a longer grip frame that you need, there are some makers out there that I believe, make an "Army" length grip frame for Ruger Blackhawks, Vaqueros and Single Sixes.

I want one of those grip frames if I ever buy another "scream'n eagle gun."

My club's monthly cowboy matches are being hosted by a member on his farm and he barbecues a steak for every shooter. Have you ever had a better excuse to buy a gun?

I like stainless steel and adjustable sights. I know adjustable sights might not be allowed in a big match but locally they just want more shooters to participate. The man who runs (or ran?) the best attended cowboy match series in my state once recommended the .38 special me as being the most competitive and cost effective. Standard Blackhawk grips leave one finger hanging down in the air and on a big gun that is, well maybe historically correct but stupid. What barrel lengths were manufactured in stainless adjustable sighted Bisleys and which ones are common enough that they can be found?

Beautiful gun. But I'm prejudiced, since I have an identical one except in .44 Magnum.

I have well over half a dozen Rugers with Bisley gripframes. Three factory Bisleys: Accusport .41 and .44, plus a 7.5" blue one. I am sold on them.

I own four Ruger Bisley revolvers - 2 in .44 magnum (7 1/2") and 2 in .44 Special (4 5/8" and 5 1/2"). I shoot them better than the regular Ruger grips....What's not to like about them????/

My feelings exactly. The Bisley grip feels much better to me than the old stlye "cowboy" grip.
I won't even consider Ruger single actions any longer unless they have the Bisley frame.

I prefer the grip on the Ruger Bisley revolver to the standard Blackhawk grip. I have a 7.5" Bisley in 45 Colt and it is pleasant to shoot with heavy "Ruger only" loads and very accurate. I also have a 5.5" 45 Colt Bisley Vaquero that is a lot of fun to shoot and it balances in my hand quite well.

I recently shot my Ruger Blackhawk convertible in .45 ACP. I have had this gun since 1982, but had not shot it in at least 25 years. While I was shooting it I thought it would be interesting to see if anyone made a longer grip for it. A few days later I went into a local gun shop and they had a Ruger Bisley Blackhawk flattop in .44 Special. I bought it on the spot. The grip is just enough longer then a regular Blackhawk for my little finger to fit on it. I like it a lot. Might have to see if I can find one in .22.

I knew they were doing a .44Special for Lipseys- but didn't know they were doing a Bisley version of it.

I have 2 Ruger Bisley Revolvers a .41 Mag & .44 Mag. They are blued and I believe have 7.5 inch barrels.

I like the Bisley on this pair.

I have a Bisley Vaquero in .357. It's totally different from shooting a S&W, but it's really nice to shoot and very accurate. Stainless and fixed sights. A fun gun.

I have one like this little .44 Magnum monster here. To me it handles recoil better than the M-29. Not saying I like it better than a S&W, but for me, It fits my hand better, and I don't think its ever going to be worth much more than I paid for it, so I don't mind throwing it in the truck..
