Was over in Cody, Wy for the holiday weekend. Found a good deal on a new blue Blackhawk in .44 Special, 4 5/8" barrel. First single action I have ever had. Seems like a nice solid revolver in one of my favorite caliber's.
Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but am pleased with the feel and price. How do most folks like the blackhawk?

I have two of the new flat top's in .44 Special, one in 4 5/8th and one in 5 1/2". Ruger should list these as target gun's cause they sure do shoot! I have one of Lipsey's New Vaqueros in .44 Special on order. Take the grip's off and unhook one of the trigger return spring leg's for a much better trigger pull. You are gonna like this one!

I have a pair of six and a half inch Old Models in .357 Magnum, one with an extra 9mm cylinder. And a New Model four and five eighths inch in .41 Magnum. The .41 had the legend "Made In The 200th Year Of American Liberty," on the top of the barrel.

The older of my .357s was my second center-fire handgun and the one that got me started reloading. I used to shoot NRA Hunter's Pistol Silhouette with it and did some hunting with it too. Accurate gun with a good trigger pull. Not finicky about ammo either. It shoots .38s as well as .357 Magnum loads.

The Blackhawk is a great single action revolver as are all of Ruger's SA's. The only problem is that it is a single action! They are all slow to load and reload, have a long slow hammer fall, and. with a few exceptions, come with lousy triggers that need work. On the other hand, they are rugged, rarely need fixing, and last forever,

Thanks for the replies. I mostly just shoot at a range so the loading/reload should be no problem. Don't really like the grips, so may look for something a bit nicer. I have several very nice Smith .44 specials so we will see how this compares.

I like my 4 5/8" BH .41 Mag. It shot good till I had the trigger slicked up and now it shoots awesome. You can't wear'em out. I actually like the stock wood grips. Maybe I've become accustomed to them.

I bought one recently in 45colt/45acp and it is like getting two guns. I have owned several over the years but only the one now.
