RUGER CUSTOMER SERVICE & MY SP101

Nice gun and excellent service, to say the least. My experience with Ruger customer service has been positive too. I have a 3" SP101 9MM. I sure didn't realize the 9mm versions were only made for one year.

BTW, the 9MM is obviously no 357, but not exactly wimpy as many shooters seem to think. Chronographed velocities and energy of various 9MM factory ammo in Ruger and S&W revolvers exceeded those of any .38 Spcl. +P I ever tested.

I've had great experience with Ruger customer service. BUT as far as Smith-well here's my story.
Got a nice 681 as a fee. decided to sent in in for the M fix. got my mailing label from Smith and off it wentl. did a letter request to Smith to check the timing as it was a bit out of time and to bill me. Got the gun back with the M stamp. Also got a note indicating replacement of the hand and other parts to correct the timing. NO CHARGE. So I got a virtually new revolver out of it.
I'm down wit dat! :D

I have said this many times on other forums; Ruger's CS serves as a model for all other firearms companies.
I have several Ruger firearms and have had CS turnaround times as short as 11 days, and never had to pay for any services. I always recommend Ruger because I love their firearms and the way they stand behind them.

Your SP's are beautiful.
I had a DAO SP101 once. Loved it but there was just one problem: so did my wife. She claimed it as her own and I could not argue with a lady sportin' a 357. Yeah, they are heavy and built like a tank, but that's a good thing when shooting magnums.

Heck no......

Before I go any further I want to say that I am not trying to start a debate on who has a better Customer Service. I have experienced similar positive experiences from S&W customer service. In this day and age of increased work load, trying to get as many guns as possible out the door, all we usually hear is moaning, groaning and complaints. These men and women go out of their way to do a good job. I just want to say thank you to both Ruger and S&W Customer Service for jobs well done.

We LIKE to hear happy gun stories and that's a happy one. Get a gun tuned up and customized on a warranty? Gee!:)

A friend of mine who works at a pawn shop got in a Ruger Single Six in trade that had some problems. A previous owner tried to make it a convertible by getting a stainless steel cylinder in 22 Magnum (the gun was blued) and tried to make it fit, which it did not. The rear sight was missing and some of the frame screws were bunged up.

The friend decided to send it to Ruger for repairs. He had no idea how much this was all going to cost. About 2 weeks later the pistol came back. It had a new rear sight, a proper 22 Magnum cylinder and all the frame screws had been replaced. Ruger also swapped out the black plastic grips for a new set of wood ones. There was no charge for any of it!

I have had service like that with S&W as well, as has a friend of mine. Pretty amazing.
