Ruger Customer Service

Love their revolvers and can not wait for the new Ruger Marlins to come out. After Remington was so bad at building and servicing them I think Ruger will bring Marlin back to where it should be.

I haven't had as good luck with Ruger's "service" as some of you fellows. I bought a used Redhawk at a gun store in Austin, Texas. The revolver had a funny trigger pull, so I disassembled it and saw where some "bubba" had been into it. Gun store wasn't interested in taking it back, so I contacted Ruger and they sent me the info needed to get it back to them. Long story short, they blamed ME for the bubba job, and said if I wanted it back, $ 85.00 dollars PLUS shipping and they would put new parts in it. Hell, what was I to do, they had my gun. So, I paid it. Left a bad taste in my mouth after hearing all the glowing stories of Rugers service. Fast forward about 25 years, and I was shooting a silhouette match in Lake Jackson, Texas. Had a squib, and like an idiot, fired another round. Blew out the right side of barrel, but didn't hurt anything else. Fellow shooter told me NOT to send it back to Ruger, they would keep it! Took it back to gun store where I purchased it, and they said "OH, no problem, Ruger will put a new barrel on it." WRONG! They kept the damn thing and said they would sell me a new one at dealers cost. Thats what I ended up doing. So, not everyone gets a good service deal at Ruger. I wasn't asking for a freebie, I would have paid to have a new barrel put on. Nope, wasn't happening. Buy new gun, or nothing.

Sounds like silly stories to me. One gun was obviously destroyed by a Bubba (they didn't know if it was you or someone else - probably thought it was you because nobody would admit to it), and the other was simply due to negligence. IMHO dealer's cost WAS a freebie.

My own personal experience with Ruger was stellar.

OTOH, I bought a S&W 15-22 and had a problem with a single mag. They sent me 2 new ones gratis and didn't even ask for proof of purchase.

I think Ruger AND S&W are awesome....

And Ruger doesn't hassle you about receipts for warranty issues either. I never worry about buying a used Ruger. Currently waiting on a Mint+ Ruger GP-100 .357 to be released to me after the local background check clears.

A LGS had an "almost" ANIB 6" GP100 for sale for $199.99 - the "almost is because the forcing cone was cracked and they were selling it as is and I was required to sign an "If the gun blows up and you die it's not our fault" waiver. Back to Ruger and two weeks later - brand new barrel.

I've found that most gun companies behave similarly most of the time.

I bought an SP101 in 22 when they came out with the 8 shot. It had a hitch in the trigger pul from a burr. The took it back and returned it with the best trigger one could expect from a Ruger.
Another time I called and "complained" about a broken recoil spring assembly in my Ruger 22. Said they are not building them like they used to. The nice lady asked for the serial number on the gun. I read it out to her and there was a pause. "Sir I think you missed a number" I said nope only 5 numbers! She chuckled-we chatted a bit and I got a new assembly at no charge.

Ruger's customer service is not only the best in the firearms industry, it is a model for all types of businesses. I was recently reminded of how superior Ruger's CS is when I had reason to speak with a representative at S & W. The difference between the two can be measured in light years. Ruger is fantastic. S & W?? Hmmm...not so much...

I would have to agree as I've always had a very positive experience with Ruger CS too.
Somewhere Bill Ruger is looking down and smiling still holding on to them 10 round mags!!!!!!!!!

I once sent back an SP-101 that shot to the left (like a foot at 25yds), the barrel was canted a little. They sent me a whole new gun, no questions asked.

When they did that did you have to go through the whole transfer process we have here? Just curious. If I were to guess I would say yes. And also, with the gun you sent back?

When I recently bought the Ruger LCP Max at Cabelas,
The Cabelas Clerk said that Ruger Customer Service was the best.
Nice to hear, I hope I don't need it.

My service experiences with both S&W and Ruger have been excellent. Only one experience each, considering the numbers of guns, a very good track record.

Who has experience.

As to the blown-barrel on the Ruger, I'll hazard a guess as to why they kept it. There would be concern that the frame was stretched, or stressed, to some extent where it screws into the frame. No used putting a new barrel on only to have it fail again, and perhaps even worse.

Ruger

S&W and Ruger are excellent 100% USA weapons, I have several of these two manufactures and never worry !! :):)

Another kudos for Ruger. My 3 .22 autos; Standard, MKII and MKIII have collectively near 70,000 rounds fired, and I've never had a reason to contact Ruger CS. :)

I just called Ruger in N. H.

Need the rear sight and 2 set screws for a PC Carbine I bought USED.

Free. Be here in a week to 10 days.

Awesome as usual.
