Years ago, I bought a set of elk stag grip panels to go in the rubber grips on my early GP-100. I remember that removing the original wood grip panels was a little bit of a chore. They were glued in. Well, I just sold the stags and want to glue the wooden ones back in. What would be a good adhesive for rubber to wood?

Glued? That is not the factory assembly. I have two GP-100's, a variety of grips, and no inserts were ever glued.

These were definitely glued from the factory. Some of the rubber pulled off and is on the back side of the grip panels. Not a lot. But it did. I bought this gun new in 1986. It's one of the first batch.

Don't see how that is possible. You have to remove the wood inserts to push out the large pin that holds the grips in place so you can disassemble the gun. Gluing them in would make that extremely difficult and not a smart business move to discourage an owner from maintaining their product.

Clean the underside and edges of those old
wood panels and then just stick them back
into the grip's recesses. The screw will then
secure them in place.

I hope the experience causes you to become
unglued. :D

They’re just stuck. I had a similar issue with mine, to the point that I tried to push the opposite panel out with the grip screw and wound up pushing out the escutcheon, and a chunk of wood.
