Thinking about getting the Ruger LCP II to replace the M&P Bodyguard I sold recently to a relative. I really liked the Bodyguard with the exception of the trigger and hear good things about the LCP II having a great trigger. Anyone have experience with the Ruger wanting to share their opinion??

Shot the LCP II belonging to a friend. Has a very nice trigger. My Kahr .380 is as good.

Picked up a LCP II right after Christmas and yes, it has a pretty good trigger. A little take up, then a nice break.
Have been carrying an original LCP for years and have been very happy with it. After trying the II, well... it followed me home.
Other improvements are a slightly thicker grip with improved stippling that feels much better and I think lets you hang onto it better. Taller sights (all black though) and LRBHO. You can use original mags, but the LRBHO won't work.
100 rounds of mixed ammo through it so far and not a bobble. Picked up a Talon pocket holster for it and more ammo to break it in but haven't had the chance. Looks like it will be a good one.

Not a bad choice at all, but I would suggest looking at the glock 42 before making a purchase.

I have a Custom LCP, the one with the red trigger, and it is great. It was made just before the LCP II.

I am in total agreement with Collo Rosso who posted above. I have the original LCP with a Hogue grip, Viridian green laser, one round extended mag, and Sweet Pea Trigger which is my car gun. Then I bought a LCP II just to check out the improvements.

My LCP II fits my pocket needs perfectly and I also carry it in a Talon wallet holster. I shoot this gun on a regular basis off hand only and find it to be accurate at 30'. It is not a gun I want to run 150 rounds through per range session but 30-50 rounds in not a problem. For the price these things are a really good deal.
BTW, I did try a number of other options including the Glock 42 which I found to be about the same size as my Kahr PM9 which I will never give up.

I shot one at the range and immediately hustled up to the sales counter and bought one. Remarkably accurate for a pocket pistol. Sold my Shield and retired my Kahr CW380. It spends a lot of time in the hip pocket of my Wranglers.

Remarkably accurate for a pocket pistol.

The club I belong to has a 6 plate (10") rack at 25 yards. I would load a mag in my original LCP and try 6 for 6. With that long trigger I could do 4 out of 6 as a best, but still pretty damn good for a pocket pistol I thought. My second attempt with the II got 4 out of 6. No question that better trigger helped. I will now sling much ammo at those plates till I get 6 out of 6!
I've owned and sold off the micro single stack 9's. They are to big or heavy for pocket carry. For me the LCP is perfect pocket carry.

still carrying my original LCP, started with a P238, then a Kahr P380, Glock 42, wound up with the Ruger. Sig was too valuable to have cops take it in the event I had to use it ( God forbid), Kahr almost as much, Glock was a bit too big for jeans pocket. LCP is just right, size and money wise. I've put fmj and like, five different types of jhp thru it, runs like a champ. Of course, that's the summer gun. In winter I carry a Smith J frame in my coat pocket. But still take the little Ruger in my pants pocket more than half the time.

Never been a fan of .380 anything. No, not being sarcastic, just too darn small for serious work...see a few fail; for real on the streets. At least the .38 Spl has weight behind it & over a century of actual use data behind it.

With all the small 9x19's out there, that is a far better choice. Just my .02 worth.

I bought my LCP II last summer and am totally happy with it!
Everything I wanted in a pocket pistol.

I also bought a S&W 638 an love it too, but the LCP II carries better in a pocket.

I have an LCP II and like it. I carry IWB at 4:00. Very comfortable. As mentioned, it has a much better trigger than the Bodyguard. Fairly accurate for a little gun. Very accurate with some practice. Mine now has 1500 rnds with no issues. Adding a Hogue grip if you have large hands really helps. Trigger starts at about 6 1/2 lbs and drops to 5 1/2 after about 200 rnds.

If the LCP/LCP II fired a soft lead SWCHP Chicago/FBI round, I might buy one. But they don't...
