Just picked up this used Ruger Match Champion 357 mag for $700. It seems to be in very good condition and little used. I'd been looking for one in 10mm but I couldn't pass this one up! I have to say this is one of the most comfortable DA revolvers I've held, it balances very well and the grip feels perfect! It's storming outside so I will have to wait to shoot it. My Ruger revolver collection almost rivals my S&W collection but not quite!

***** Update 10/26/23****

Beautiful day to shoot, storms over with. I didn't bench rest, just shot a mixture of 158 grain 38 special and 158 grain 357 mag at targets and metal gong. I was shooting my Colt Trooper too. Bottom target was Ruger Match Champion.

This Ruger is super comfortable to shoot and very accurate! I have to say it's one of the most comfortable grips I've held and feels quite controllable shooting full house 357. I really like the green fiber optic front sight, very easy to pick up and see for the old eyes. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the Ruger Match Champion 357!

I also got a Desantis thumb break belt scabbard off eBay for $20. This Match Champion has a 4.2 inch barrel and the holster stated it's for a 4 inch 581/681,586/686, Python, and GP100 but it fits perfectly fine. This holster will do double duty with my S&W revolvers too.

Hope you enjoy your revolver! I have a thing for fixed sight guns, as the Forum is well aware. I bought the very same gun when it first appeared in the "mid-10s". Sadly, I was disappointed: it did not handle (for me) as well as my 686 Pro Series and I sold it a week later. If you gun is in as fine a shape as you say, you paid a good price for it!

Thanks! I had my eye on a 686 pro series 7 shot but I couldn't pass this up! We'll see how it shoots when it's done storming.

I had the chance to shoot one years ago. I am not afraid to admit that was one very accurate gun that also sat in my hand nicely.

Good score.

Thanks! I remember reading a review on this by the late Jeff Quinn and he spoke highly of it too. The grip looks a little odd, like it's too far back a smidge but it really feels pleasantly comfortable. We'll see how it shoots tomorrow.

Love my 10mm. Been looking for the .357 version also.
Good price OP, enjoy it, mine is one of my favorites.

Thanks! I certainly won't rule out getting a 10mm Match Champion too since that was what I was originally seeking, it would pair well with my Glock 20 & 29 10mm's. I think I recall you even getting a better deal than I!

Yeah I got it at a great price, but that was before everything went crazy.
$700 now is probably the equal of mine. IIRC it was right around $600/650 new, pre covid.

Someone else scored a used one recently at a REALLY good price.
Can't remember who it was and whether it was 10 or .357.

Congratulations on your new purchase! I've come close a couple time to buying this model, but for various reasons, it didn't pan out. Enjoy it.

Thank you. There are enough of them out there I hope you can get one. I have to say the balance and feel are perfect. We'll see how it shoots tomorrow.

A member, maybe Erocksmash or tlawler, reamed his Ruger 10 out to magnum.

Erocksmash did a GP-100 Match Champion and mine was a Super Redhawk.

Perfect timing for me to stumble across this thread. I was perusing some local classifieds and saw this exact same model for sale right around the same price as the OP. Made me say Hmmm…this looks interesting, then I saw this thread. I might have to check it out tomorrow. This one has no box or docs though. Seller even posted this: No box or manuals. I just have the gun. I bought it from my step son because he needed money, and he's an idiot, so the gun is all I have…Lol…gave me a chuckle.

I don't think you can go wrong getting a Ruger Match Champion, it's a really sweet shooting revolver! Mine didn't come with box & papers either.

I'm basically a S&W revolver guy, but the MCs are nice too. LGS owner showed me a .357 MC shortly after they were introduced. I did think at the time the MC needed adjustable sights due to the wide variety of ammunition that might be used in it.

As a longtime 10mm fan, I acquired one of the Ruger 5" 10mm revolvers, later replaced with one of the 10mm MCs. I'd rather have bought a new 610; but that darn lock..
