Ruger MKII Target ETA: Volquartzen trigger kit

It is my understanding that the Volquartsen sear is the key upgrade. The entire trigger kit may well be overkill.

This is true,,
when you get the new sear, and compare them side by side with the original, the major difference is the sear working face angle.

If you had the VQ sear, you could closely duplicate it by stoning the old sear,,
IF you are real good.

There is a bushing that comes in the kit, it removes a LOT of slop.

The other trigger components that are replaced mostly remove slop.

The trigger itself is straighter, allowing you to get more leverage,, so the trigger then appears to take less force .

So, some people modify their stock parts, some buy partial kits,,
some buy the entire kit.

Actually, about the best option is to get the entire kit,,
AND replace the supplied VQ bushing with one of several suppliers of a tighter tolerance bushing. ( like Clark, or Tandemkross)

IIRC, there may even be tighter tolerance pins,,
How much you got?? Send it in,,, :D

How difficult is the trigger kit to install? Thanks.

I am quite used to working on firearms and the video on the Volquartzen site is pretty good as a how to. I am sure that more videos can be found on Youtube that show the procedure.

It did allow me to finish the detail strip and cleanup. Now I will be able to just take the grips off and dump it into one of my buckets of Ed's Red. A spritz or two of air from my compressor to knock out any carbon and a brush&patch through the barrel should take care of cleanup in the future.

It will go along with my 4inch MKII Standard nicely.

I have one exactly like yours. But mine has the more common 4 &3/4" barrel rather than a 4" barrel :D

You know, I never really measured it. I just assumed it has a 4inch barrel. Maybe I should break out the ruler.;)

(after breaking out the ruler)

Turns out that when using a rod in the barrel to the boltface and measuring you come out with 4.75 inches on the Standard and 6.75 inches on the Target. How about that?:D

I think I will order the Volquartzen sear for the Standard Model.

I bought my MKII used many years ago for $200, the previous owner never fired the first shot with it!

The 22/45 is only a couple of years old. I've got a Burris Fastfire III for it but haven't put it on and zeroed it yet.

Both guns are fantastic and much more accurate than I am! :)

My Mk II Target, w/AAC Scarab is very accurate, and quiet. Running RWS subsonic required me to shoot it with my thumb on the bolt and work the action manually on every shot. Otherwise, FTE, FTF every time. I got a spring kit, don't remember who made it, and it runs perfectly now. If I need to eliminate the sound of bolt slap for real quiet operation I can use my thumb on the bolt.
