Ruger to acquire Marlin

Statement from Ruger CEO

I just wonder if Ruger has any plans to reach out to to the 'old school' lever guys that were cut loose from Marlin years ago when all this started. Marlin did have a dedicated group that really knew the older actions, their quirks and how to keep them running.

About the time that the "safety" was introduced and onward, Marlin seemed to decide that such knowledge was no longer that important and things went downhill from there.

Like others, I think that this acquisition is the best thing that could have happened to the Marlin brand. One thing that I would like to see Ruger do is to bring back the model 39 .22lr lever gun.

Nice if it happened, but I think it's too expensive to manufacture in it's original form to compete against Henry or the imports.

Several family members and I have Remlin lever guns manufactured since 2014. Regardless of the internet whoopla, these are every bit as well made as the JM marked rifles. I have a 1979 made JM 336 and a Remlin 336 and I think I like the Remlin better.

I hope some of you wont be to disappointed when you discover that this is just one corporation focused on cutting manufacturing cost replaced by another.

Corporations are supposed to be focused on cutting manufacturing costs.

Corporations are supposed to be focused on cutting manufacturing costs.

Not so much that as making and growing profits for their investors so that the company can survive and prosper. Which may include lowering costs among many other considerations. In fact that is the principal responsibility of management.

With respect to firearms, we would hope, maintaining and/or improving quality is part of the plan as well.

We would hope that is a by-product of the parent corporation's primary goal of making money for investors. Apparently, Remington struggled with both.
