RUST ON SLIDE OF FN IIVE SEVEN! WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

If the rust had appeared after one day of carry, I could understand yur angst. But the result you got is exactly the result you can expect if you're not even wiping down the gun during a week of carry in adverse conditions, even if the gun is 100% stainless steel. It is hardly a gun's fault if it rusts from abuse and neglect. FN supplies information on maintenance with every gun sold, and neither they nor any maker will warranty against a user's negligence.

I'm struggling to understand why this is an issue. Just remove the rust and keep moving along. Wipe down daily. Consider a different holster method, if needed.

That's just funny (and true) right there. I don't care who ya are!

Anything Five-Seven carry related always reminds me of this:

Jokes aside, it's a carry gun. It's going to collect its fair share of dings and scratches, among other cosmetic imperfections. If it's being carried every day then a wipe-down with oil every day is in order IMO.

I have both the Five-seveN and the PS90...all due to this forum and a few of its members. They're my home defense weapons, with the PS90 being suppressed.

Some of the old hands here remarked how loud .357s are and recommended .38s. It got me to thinking (never a good idea) and down the rabbit hole I went. I only carry the pistol during the Winter, due to its size.

I'm a fan of the caliber because the light bullets won't go through too much. I know there are people out there touting the 5.7 round as a laser beam but they're not. Sure, it'll make it through a windshield...I doubt I'll ever have a requirement for that.
