We had a similar experience 3 years ago. 100 year rain in a couple of hours,
Water went over the window well by an inch, broke the basement window, overwhelmed the 2 sump pumps, and ended up with about 6' of water in the basement! Water rose in an hour or so, stayed an hour, then dropped in several hours. FEMA adjuster was great to deal with! Mud cleanup was horrible! Luckily our basement is not finished! Raised the window well 1' to minimize reoccurance.
