I bought this S prefix Highway Patrolman and got it home and cleaned it up and found some major pitting in the barrel. I bought it as shooter, but I don't like rust in the bore. I can take it back an will probally do so but thought I would run it by you guys first. Is it anything special? I paid $300 for it.
Thanks, John

If the bore is truly pitted, I'd take it back. If its surface rust that can be cleaned with no damage to lands or grooves, you've got a great
N-frame shooter for 300 bucks.

I have a 22/32 with a bulge in the bbl and it still shoots good. Try yours out first. I always run a patch with oil on it through the bbl and cyl holes after shooting for protection. Just make sure you do the bbl first so you get a good coat of oil in it. Larry
