I see the S&B 148gn wadcutter load fairly cheap, and I was wondering if any of you have tried it.
Just looking for a reasonably priced 148gn wadcutter load to plink and casual target shoot with while I accumulate brass.

I have not tried this particular load but have shot other S&B ammo and it was ok. I think you should be fine, I guess the best thing to do would be to buy a box and try it out. Oh and let us know how it does and what gun:)

I have no experience with the ammo, but I have noticed that S&B .38 Special brass primer pockets are slightly undersized. It might not be the best brass for handloading if that is your intent.

It's as accurate as 90+% of folks can hold. A bit "sooty" but no major chunks of slag or anthracite. I've never tried a reload cycle on their brass so, unknown? It shot where it was pointed and all went bang. If acquired at the right price I wouldn't have a problem. As long as your not trying to feed it to a M-52 I foresee no issues?

I have shot quite a bit of it in my M-14 and it is just about as much fun as shooting my M-17. I think it is pretty good stuff for the price. I also agree that the primer pockets can be real tight at times so I don't bother with reloading it anymore. if you are willing to deal with that then the brass lasts as long as any other brand.

I'd think your Model 15 would Love the stuff! Depending on what load your sights are zeroed for, the target velocity full wad cutters (from anybody) may print about an inch to inch and a half higher. Normal. If it does just use a "Navy Hold" which is at 6 o'clock on the bullseye.

In my experience it is very accurate, but a little dirty and rather slow. Here are some chrono results that a friend of mine did. 70F, in the shade, and in south Mississippi (no idea what altitude though).

S&B 148 full wadcutter

442-1: 475, 499, 489, 544, 526

686 (4 inch): 547, 571, 541, 560, 556

I thought it was very sooty in my .38/357 wheelies and not as accurate as some others I've used.

I've shot a couple of boxes of them in my 52-2, not as accurate as Win. or Fed. factory target load, velocity is on the slow side but cycle thru the 52-2 without problem.

Like others, I found the primer pocket on the tight side, require extra effort to seat primers with hand primeing tools.
