I need to buy some 12 ga. buckshot and I found some S&B #1 at a very good price. I will use this ammo in a HD shotgun, at home and in the truck. Is anyone familiar with S&B #1? The price is $7.99 for a box of 25.

I've had no issues with their oo buck.Except for the fact that the shells are slightly longer than other manufacturers ammo.The magazine will not fit the full capacity.

Check "em" for penetration. Friend had some at the hunting club. Missed a deer supposidly. Patterned them at a sheet of roofing tin at 40 steps..........They hit BUT DID NOT penetrate the tin. All got tossed.
I bought several cases of their "00" buck years ago along with some Less Lethal rubber buckshot
They have all been working good.
The shells are not actually longer, they are still 2 3/4" when open. They are longer unfired due to how they are loaded
The difference is that they use a plastic disc to cover the shot, this allows them to roll the end of the shell into it farther down the shell case. That is why S&B gets 12 pellets of "00" buck into a shell when most only get 9 pellets
Some pump/auto shotguns will still take a full load of shells and some will take one less. It depends on how the firearm manufacturer designed things
Of course if you are using a SxS or O/U the way the shell is designed will make no difference.
Obviously it will also make no difference to any of the magazine fed shotguns

Price is pretty good for buck loads. S&B has been in the ammo manufacturing business for a very long time, since 1825, so no reason to suspect they have an inferior product.

S&B will not cycle thru my 870. They are a bit too long as stated in posts above.

Thank you for all your comments. I'm going to order a case and check them out. Two hundred and fifty shells delivered to my door for $100.00. Seems like a good deal to me.

Yep, in my Mossy 500 8+1 I can only get 7 in the tube. They are slightly longer than 2-3/4" for sure. But not 3".
I think they are great for practice but I tend to stick with Hornady or Federal low recoil 9 ball for in-the-house loads. Quicker follow up shot is more important than those extra 3 .33 balls.
