S&P 22 compact suggested ammo?

Depends on use. With the short barrel a high velocity cartridge will waste some power as the powder will likely still be burning as it exits the barrel.
Self-defense? Consider the high velocity offerings but confirm they run reliably.
For plinking and target use standard velocity will be fine and make a lot less noise. Your individual gun may have preferences.

"Consider the high velocity offerings but confirm they run reliably."

I have shot 3000 rounds of CCI-Mini-mag in this pistol. no problems.:)

Individual guns can and do have their own preferences.
It is important for anyone asking about preferred ammunition for a pistol to understand this.

My 22 compact is the least ammo sensitive 22 LR pistol I have ever owned, quite a contrast to my model 41, which is the most ammo sensitive pistol I have ever owned.

But happily both those guns really like CCI Blazer. I always buy the 40 grain RNL variety since it is most accurate in my 41. Reasonably priced and a lot fewer misfires than you get with other brands. Federal Automatch also worked well the last time I tried it in the 22 Compact but I have standardized on the Blazer to keep things simple.

The 22 compact I have does have occasional stovepipes with standard velocity ammo so I avoid it. It worked well with pretty much all the cheap bulk HV ammo I tried as long as it went bang instead of misfiring. The misfires were a failure on the part of the ammo, not the gun. This isn't a self defense gun so the misfires are not going to kill you but are annoying, which is why I stick with CCI.

CCI Mini-Mag:)

Best advice in town ...

CCI ... Mini-Mag , Stinger , Standard Velocity ... they make several flavors . The quite stuff may not cycle auto loaders .
Their line of Clean 22 works well .
Try several different CCI offerings to find a favorite .

Winchester Super X 22lr 40grain Copper Plated Round Nose ammo

Stay away from Winchester Super X 22lr 40grain Copper Plated Round Nose ammo. Really Bad stuff.:mad::mad:

as others have already stated, std velocity stuff is hit or miss with mine, cci 36 and 40 gr minimag's, and old stock automatch run virtually flawless, but every gun can function differently, best to try those suggested to work well first , if one runs very well and is accurate enough for your uses ,stock up on a good quantity of it and know you can count on it always running well.

My PMP22C is 100% on MiniMags. And after about 300 rounds of "break-in" it became reliable with other loads as well. It is now good with CCI SV, Aguila HV and SV, and even RP "bucket" (except for two misfires and a stuck bullet.)

I have some Browning Pro SV and old German Wolf Match Target that are too soft.
