S serial number shipping dates.

Have you always wanted to know about when your N frame was shipped? From 1946 to 1970 Smith & Wesson made some
270965 S serial numbered N frames. What I propose to do is create a page, here, listing ship dates ,,in chronological order, of our beloved S ser. # N frames.

With your help, I will list the basic shipping information.

Exact shipping dates, no, but you might consider becoming an SWCA member. SWCA has a database for many models. For example, I frequently refer to the one they maintain for Model 29s/44 Magnums.

I have to ask the éxperts' . Wsa this a bad idea? All I'm asking for here, are serial #s ,(leaving off the
last 2 digits) ,model of gun, where shipped, and shipping date , month and year will do.

I'll play as I believe it would be of benefit to the forum

I will tell you, the SWCA has done this and is available to those who meet the membership requirements and are willing to part with what I believe to be a modest dues to join the Association. I cant believe anyone who is passionate about the hobby not becoming a member...I wish I had done it years ago.

Something wrong here: I cannot believe that serial #S304142 was shipped in 1967. I would not expect that serial number to have been shipping until the early 1970's, just before the N serial number series began.
