New to me S&W 10-8!

Atlantic Firearms score. Surplus but I don't think it's mil-surp (not sure but usually Atlantic includes a little history/source with their mil-surp offerings).

It has a "crown-looking" stamp in front of the trigger on the frame. I've never seen one like this before, especially in this spot on a S&W.
Navy Arms import stamp on bottom of trigger guard (looks very old).

I see model 10-8's were made between 1977 and 1988.
Curious as to the possible history on this one and wether or not the crown stamp is significant or interesting in any way.

looks like someone playing around...crown stamp usually indicates import marking from various country that uses that symbol. most of the ones Ive seen were German. up around the barrel and frame. for example a service member being deployed to germany had to declare weapon at customs. country then stamps as being accepted

Not to put too fine a point on it but thats just a stamp, not really a "roll mark". Not rolled on like some other markings.

Agreed - it's like a stamp, not a true rollmark or definitely not a proof mark as that would only have been from S&W.

These type model 10s did go far and wide and were made in huge numbers so it's past has many possible journeys.
