S&W 1000 12ga barrel swap

Hi everyone,
I inherited a S&W model 1000 in 12ga and I was wondering if I can swap the barrel with a 20ga one. I want to make sure is safe to shoot and it will not damaged the shotgun.

No, you can not. The 20ga barrel is too small to fit the 12ga receiver and magazine tube.
