S&W 15-22 mags not freely releasing

Just repurchased a M&P 15-22 and none of my magazines are freely releasing from the Mag well. I have all S&@ mags. I don’t recall this issue several years ago. The mag button pushes all the way in so it should be clearing the magazine. Test fitting the magazines I feel like they are hanging up or rubbing in the back of the magazine.

There was an earlier post titled “Tight Mag Well” indicating a similar problem but I thought I’d solicit more opinions.

Try cleaning the mag well

My magazines were not dropping freely. I wiped out the mag well with a very small amount of CLP on a paper towel and it fixed it.

Same issue here on a brand new 15-22 with factory mags. You had to pull the mags out.

I called S&W and lady told me to run 1000 rounds through it... I told her that is not going to make magwell any bigger. She basically said they will not do anything until it has had 1000 rounds through it.

So I took a file and carefully flat filed the 4 ramps on the sides of the magwells. I am a machinist and use files all the time - so no biggie for me. It is a misalignment of the molds that they are using. It did not take too much filing - I used a fine file and you cannot tell that it has been done. Mag will now drop out, but not fall out like an .223 or whatever. Small amount of more filing would let them fall out like a .223 AR.
